Getting Started Quick Guide for New Users

We have spent a lot of time documenting GMAT and preparing tutorials and training material. GMAT's User Guide is available in pdf, Windows help, and html formats from our User Documentation page. If you are new to GMAT, we recommend you take the folllowing training. This material provides a complete overview and training course to get started using GMAT on real-world trajectory design and modelling problems.

  1. Read the entire section called "Using GMAT" in the User Guide.  This section explains how to install and configure the system, and gives an overview of GMAT's user interfaces.
  2. Run the sample missions distributed with GMAT.   These missions are located in the "samples" folder of the GMAT installation and show how to solve many trajectory problems with GMAT.   For further help, see the User Guide.
  3. Take all of the tutorials in the "Tutorials" section of the User Guide.   These tutorials show you how to perform common activities and solve basic trajectory problems by walking you through step by step.
  4. Skim the "Reference Guide" section of the User Guide.   This section has detailed information on all aspects of the GMAT user interfaces including detailed behavior discussions, script syntax, GMAT data types, GUI layouts, default values, units, copy-and-paste script snippets, and much more.

Finally, training videos are available on YouTube and Google+ .
